Disconnected: The Problem with People

The problem with me, the problem with you, and the problem with every other human on this planet is that we are disconnected. Let me explain with a quick story.

• Jack and Jill are a cute couple that recently had a child and are expecting again so they are no strangers to receiving free baby stuff from everyone around them. Fortunate enough to not have to buy a lot of things for their first child, it would be safe to expect the same with their next one.
• A couple just moved into the apartment next to Jack and Jill's. They recently had their first baby (a girl) and hopefully they've had the same luck as Jack and Jill.
• Jill has been going through all their daughter's old clothes and wondering what she's going to do with them since she just found out from ultrasounds that she's having a little boy this time.
• Jack thinks it would be a great idea to give some of those girl clothes to their neighbors. Sure he doesn't know much about them, but they seem like nice people and it's always better to make friends and have allies than it isn't...right?
• When Jack approached Jill with the idea, he wasn't necessarily shocked, but he was definitely disappointed with Jill's response, "I don't know them. They've never talked to me, why should I give them the old clothes?! What am I going to do just go knock on the door and say hey you want some clothes?"
• Jack responded, "You don't know them BECAUSE you've never talked to them. Why do they need to talk to you first? You were given all these clothes for free, why not share the wealth and be a good neighbor. Isn't that what you would want someone to do for you? Are you crazy!?!? I'm not asking you to give them all her old clothes, just give them some, I'm sure they need 'em. We did."
• Jill had no response.

To make this story even better, Jill works in the service industry and deals with people all day, several days a week. Her number one complaint lately has been how inconsiderate, rude, and.....yup....DISCONNECTED people are. Come on Jill, get with the program...

Since birth (1982 for me), we have been bombarded by millions of messages every minute telling us we have to be this, we have to do that, this is how you get accepted, and this is how you get money. We haven't even been told one solid way to do that either. Radio, TV, billboards, magazines, church, peers, elitists, narcissists, anarchists, whatever, whoever, however....we've been packed full of so much BULLSHIT, that we have no clue what to do, where to go, or how to do get anything accomplished.

Have you been living your whole life searching for meaning and purpose and still haven't found it? Yea, I've been there, but let me point out some things...

• Why is it necessary for us to take orders from an authority? I know the difference between good and evil. I know how to treat people with respect but I also know how to NOT treat people with respect when they don't deserve it. I don't know about ya'll but I have NEVER in my 27 years of life had one good experience with a cop. They are brainwashed (they're not the only ones) to think they are above us and therefore have the right to treat us however they want to. Now I realize making generalizations is wrong and that there are good cops, but I'm just saying...from my decades of experience on this planet...
• Why do I need to be what you or anyone else tells me I need to be? Now all children need guidance and support (emotionally, physically, & spiritually), but there's no need for any parent to put undeserving pressures on a child to be something that the child might not have any interest in being. This goes for grown folks, too! Do you really need a BMW, designer jeans, or platinum teeth to be a human? Do you have to sell your soul to a corporation for a salary and some benefits with the hopes of getting some vacation time in order to consider yourself successful? What the f*** is success anyway?!

So what do we do? I've got a novel idea...

BE YOURSELF. If you want to know the purpose of your existence or the meaning life, there it is. Find yourself, learn yourself, love yourself, and BE yourself. If we all go through this process it will reflect our relationships with each other, I promise.

Is it too crazy to think that our purpose here is for the sake of the experience? You can be whoever, whatever, or whereever you want to be. None of us are better than the next and none of us are lesser than the next. The only thing holding any of us back is our own FEAR (has anyone felt an excess of fearmongering from governments and media lately?).

This is the planet earth. We are here. The only thing we can do about it is EXPERIENCE it.

I like the Jack n' Jill scenario... very well put together and the message is CLEAR! I hope more people will take a minute and have a good thought process bout this, keep it up Captain OG Kush! Much respect due!
